How I Stay Positive and Happy

Over the summer as I’m sure many of you experienced I noticed I was losing my spark, my joy, and just constantly felt overwhelmed by everything happening in the world. It doesn’t mean I didn’t want to hear about it anymore, but I needed to do something to change the way I was consuming news and letting the negativity control my day. I want to be in control of my happiness, my mood, and my day so I made a change. Here are some of the things I replaced in my morning routine that have changed my life. (A little dramatic, maybe, but I’m not changing it)

  1. No phone for AT LEAST the first hour after I wake up. Over time I’ve noticed this ends up being two, three, or even four hours phone free in the mornings. I start my day on my terms filling my cup with things that make me happy, rather than consuming things that drain me.
  2. I start my day with gratitude, (soon to be) workouts, I have a present and engaged breakfast with Nicholas and Emilia.
  3. I sit down and create; create content, plan blog posts, edit photos, and create meaningful and helpful tools for my clients.

A morning routine doesn’t need to be complicated, it doesn’t need to start at 4 AM, but it does need to energize you, excite you, motivate you, and help you start your day in a positive direction. I’ve talked about morning routines before (you can find that post here), and how implementing one that works for you is key. Do the things that feel natural to you. Do the things that will fill YOUR cup.
