As I’m typing this I cannot believe that my little princess pants Emilia has been here for 9 months already. I’d be lying if I said this time has flown by so fast and smoothly, but it also feels like the struggles of the first 6 months with her are a distant memory. The last three months have in fact flown by with a lot of ease and lots and lots of laughs, smiles, and happiness. I’ve been in a better headspace; my mental health is much better, I’m feeling more like myself, and we are all sleeping through the night! We also have a nap schedule locked in and it has brought so much peace to my days with her.
I want to talk about her nap/sleep schedule a little because I do get questions about this topic since we did have such a hard time getting into a routine with her. I’ll start with she threw us for a loop big time because even at 6 months old she was still wake every 2-3 hours a night and a 4 hour stretch was like gold for us! There were a handful of times that she did sleep through the night, but it would only last a couple days. I finally decided I just needed to do something about it. I thought about purchasing sleep training courses, but really there was no need for it. I had already successfully sleep trained one baby I just needed to buckle down and get disciplined with myself. I stopped going in to her room when she’d wake crying and simply let her soothe herself and go back to sleep on her own. It took us about a week, but we did it and it worked. Ever since she’s been sleeping 11-12 hours every night with no issues.
This is what her schedule looks like:
7:00 AM – Wake up and breastfeed
8:00 AM – Breakfast
9:00 AM – Naptime
10/10:30 AM – Wake and Breastfeed
11:00 AM – Lunch
1:00 PM – Breastfeed and down for Afternoon Nap
2:30/3 PM – Wake and Snack
4:00 PM – Breastfeed
5:00 PM – Dinner
7:00 PM – Breastfeed and Bedtime
